Some species are more adaptive than other. Normally Herons species are easily affected from environmental changes and as a result many species are declining. On the contrary The Cattle Egret (Γελαδάρης) is one of the exceptions and it’s population is increasing. Maybe because it’s habitat is not strictly limited in the wetlands as, accordingly to it’s name uses to follow flocks of domestic animals, feeding among them.
In Greece Cattle Egret still spreading and it was a great surprise to observe 3 individuals in Petron lake, in early July. Possibly breeding there.
