Aquila clanga – Στικταετός – Greater Spotted Eagle

The highlight of the first day of Midwinter monitoring at Amvrakikos gulf was this Aquila clanga individual (was not the only one observed) taking advantage of the thermal updrafts just over our heads !

Other raptors that were observed, were Aquila heliaca (from another team), Falco peregrinus, Pandion haliaetus, Circus aeruginosus, Circus cyaneus, Falco tinnunculus, Buteo buteo and possibly one Falco columbarius.
